Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, August 27th and we will be reading Matthew 23, 23-26.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 23, 23-26.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you find mint and dill and cumin and have neglected the witherer matters of the law, justice and mercy and faith.
These you ought to have done without neglecting the others.
You blind guides, straining out the gnat and swallowing a camel.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extolation and rapacity.
You blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and of the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
Have you noticed that today Jesus again is saying woe to you as if he is teaching?
When he said this so many times, seven to be exact, he was expressing his sadness on the Pharisees for them, being such hypocrites.
They do all their religious acts and works to be seen and approved by other people.
We should live our faith because we love him, not because we need to flash around that we are fancy and better than someone because of it.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us not to pretend to be holy, but really live out a life of holiness and remember to go to confession to remain close to you.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
