Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Thursday, August 15th and we will be reading Luke 1, 39-56.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 1, 39-56.
In those days Mary arose and went with haste to a hill country, to a city of Judea.
And she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leapt in her womb.
And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
And she explained with a loud cry, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For behold, when the voice of the greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy.
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of why he has spoken to her from the Lord.
And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For he has regarded the low state of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on those who fear him, from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.
He has helped the servant Israel to embrace his mercy.
Because he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his prosperity forever.
And Mary remained with her for about three months and returned to her home.
Today is a special feast day for the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Feast of the Assumption is what God did for the Mother Mary for believing and saying yes to carrying the Son of God in her womb.
Mary teaches us that we should live like Christ in everything that we do.
We should try to say yes to Jesus' call.
Think about when we are at Mass and we say the Nicene Creed.
I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Guess what?
Mary is already in heaven with her body because of God’s power.
Today let’s pray at Hail Mary.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Hail Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
