Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, August 13th, and we will be reading Matthew 18, 1-5, verse 10, and 12-14.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 18, 1-5, verse 10, and 12-14.
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.
See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.
What do you think, if a man has a hundred sheep and one of them has gone astray, does he not lead the ninety-nine on the hills and go search for that one that went astray?
And if he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.
So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Try to think of someone you know that knows more than you.
Did you think of your dad or mom or grandparent or teacher?
I did.
You know why that person knows more than you?
They are most likely older than you, so they have had lots more time to read, study, and learn things.
In the Bible reading today, Jesus says to be more like the little child.
He meant that we should be humble and not act like we know it all.
Just like we as kids have to trust and rely on our parents to care for us, until we are grown up and move out of the house, Jesus says to be the same way with our faith to trust and rely on our Heavenly Father.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to humble and trust in You.
Help us to rely on You always.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
