Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Eb Sprooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, August 6th and we will be reading Mark 9, 2-10.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Mark 9, 2-10.
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them, and his garments became glistening intensely white, as no fuller on earth can bleach them.
And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking to Jesus.
And Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is well that we are here.
Let us make three booths, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid.
And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out from the cloud, This is my beloved son, listen to him.
And suddenly, looking around them, they no longer saw anyone with them, only Jesus.
And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them not to tell anyone what they have seen, until the Son of Man should have risen from the dead.
So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising of the dead meant.
And they asked him, Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?
And he said to them, Elijah does come first to restore all things.
And how is it written that the Son of Man, and he should suffer many things, and be treated with contempt?
But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written to him.
It’s amazing to think about what it would have been like to meet Jesus.
I would have loved to see him perform a miracle.
Wouldn’t it have been so cool to see him glowing so bright?
What’s one way we can know Jesus is real?
How about the Bible?
It tells us about Jesus being born, teaching, performing miracles, dying on the cross, and coming back on the third day.
There is so much written in the Bible that we can learn something new from each day.
What about prayer?
Have you ever prayed for something impossible and then that impossible thing happened?
It can happen.
And it’s another way Jesus shows us he is real.
It’s amazing to have the Bible or see a snowflake fall, or to speak to God in prayer.
Our lives are full of amazing things.
Every single day we only have to look around us to see Jesus is real.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for the truth of your word.
Help us to trust in that even when we cannot feel or see you.
Thank you for taking care of us.
In Jesus' name, amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow.
Scouter any more flowers.
See ya!
