81. Friday, August 2, 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Friday, August 2nd, and we will be reading Matthew 13, 54-58.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 13, 54-58.

And coming to his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works?

Is it not this the carpenter’s son?

Is not his mother called Mary?

And are not his brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

And are not all his sisters with us?

Where then did the man get all of this?

Then they took offense at him.

But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Do you have a best friend?

My best friend is my brother.

No, seriously.

When he’s not around or goes somewhere without me, I actually miss him.

I know sometimes we argue or he can be annoying, because, well, he’s my brother.

But I would really be sad if we weren’t also friends, not just siblings.

I think sometimes when I’m annoyed or mad at my brother, I need to remember that I would really miss him if he wasn’t my brother and best friend.

We should do the same with our faith.

Just because we have had faith since we were little doesn’t mean we shouldn’t appreciate it every day and want to grow more in it.

There will always be more and more to learn.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, grant us grace and fortune to be your follower.

Help us to bear fruit with love.

We love you.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week.

Scatter your more flowers.

See ya!
