Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Wednesday, July 31st and we will be reading Matthew 13, 44-46.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 13, 44-46.
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up.
Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who on finding one pearl of great value went and sold all that he had and bought it.
There is this really cute Disney movie I like called The Pirate Fairy, a follow up to the Peter Pan story.
It’s based on another fairy that is Tinkerbell’s friend.
She leaves the fairies to go live with the pirates, Captain Hook’s group, and she tries to steal the prized treasure.
These parables we’ve been reading lately teach us that we should treasure the things of God more than anything else in the world.
See, the real treasure is Jesus.
When we meet Jesus, we have found the real treasure because He offers us forgiveness from sins and a new life in Him.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to remember that Jesus is the true treasure and not to care about things that don’t matter as much as Him.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
