78. Tuesday, July 30, 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Tuesday, July 30th and we will be reading Matthew 13, 36 through 43.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 13, 36 through 43.

Then he left the crowds and went into the house.

And his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the fields.

He answered, He who sows the good seed is the son of man, the field is the world, and the good seed means the sons of the kingdom.

The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sowed them is the devil.

The harvest is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels.

Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the close of age.

The son of man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers.

Then throw them into the furnace of fire.

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Then the righteousness will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their father.

He who has ears, let him hear.

One of my school lessons was learning the anatomy of bees.

It was very interesting.

The lesson about pollen and stingers and body shapes.

I learned that there is one honeybee that looks like an African killer bee.

You heard what I said, killer bee.

Yikes! Can you imagine if you thought you were outside next to a harmless working bee, but you got stung by a killer bee?

That’s because those two bees look the same.

Like the reading today, God is the farmer.

He desires that all people come to know him.

We are sinful.

We are only saved by the blood of Jesus.

Rather than judging or shutting out people who seem different from us, we should pray for them.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for your grace.

Help us to love as you do and to not judge one another.

Thank you for your love.

In Jesus' name, amen.

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya! Help me! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help!
