Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, July 23rd and we will be reading Matthew 12, 46-50.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 12, 46-50.
While he was still speaking to the people, behold his mother and his brethren stood outside asking to speak to him.
But he replied to the man who told him, Who is my mother and who are my brethren?
And stretching out his hands toward his disciples, he said, Here are my mother and my brethren.
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
There is this really good Disney movie called Encanto.
Have you seen it?
One of my favorite things about that movie is how it’s a story about a big family and how in the end they show how it doesn’t matter what you are, like family sticks together.
My favorite character is Bruno because he is accepted because he’s different.
But Mirabelle tells people that it shouldn’t matter.
Being in Jesus' family means we have a really big family.
Everyone in the church is a part of your God family.
But not only that, everyone who goes to other Christian churches are a part of God’s family too.
They could be in the church down the street or in the church on the other side of the world.
If they believe in Jesus, they are in God’s family with you as the brother or sister.
And we have to try to get along with all Christians.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, we thank you for sending Jesus to make us a part of your family.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
