Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elyse Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, July 16th and we will be reading Matthew 11, 20-24.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 11, 20-24.
And he began to uprate the cities where the most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.
Woe to you, Chorazin, and to you, Bethsidia! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidion, they would have repented long ago, and sacked cloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it shall be more terrible on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidion than for you.
And you, Capernaum, will be exalted to heaven, you shall be brought down to Hades.
For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
But I tell you, it shall be more terrible on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.
Do you know the story of the boy who cried wolf?
It’s bad a boy who cared for his sheep in the field would yell running to his father to come help, teasing that a wolf had entered into the sheepfold.
He did it two or three times, and each time he was joking, so his dad got mad and was unable to trust if he was telling the truth.
The next time he called for him, a wolf really had come to the sheep’s area, and his dad went to come help because he didn’t think he was telling the truth.
And so he lost some of his sheep that day.
The little boy was sad, but learned a lesson.
I thought of this story today because Jesus spent most of the time healing people under two towns in the reading, and he said, woe is me.
He was sad because he couldn’t do anything for those people because they were choosing not to believe even though they knew the truth.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, please show us ways to have more faith in you, and to do it always.
Believe what you say is true.
In Jesus' name, amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
