Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Monday, July 15th and we will be reading Matthew 10, 34 through 11, 1.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 10, 34 through 11, 1.
Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth.
I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
And when Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.
When I first read today’s scripture, I felt sad and a little confused because I was thinking about all the things Jesus said and thought he meant something bad by it all.
So I asked my mom what she thought he meant by all of it.
She explained to me that Jesus was wanting us to make him top priority, even above the closest people to us.
She told me it’s important to live fully for him, not just say I’m a Christian, but also live like I am and choose him first.
This makes me think of all the martyred saints.
They went through torture and to choose on the spot if they would have pride to say they loved God and they would die for that sake.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to have so much trust and faith in you, because you are worth the sacrifice, amen.
In Jesus' name, amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
