66. Friday, July 12 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Friday, July 12th and we will be reading Matthew 10, 16-23.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 10, 16-23.

Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

Beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles when they deliver you up.

Do not be anxious about how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

The Father will deliver a brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

After today’s reading, I thought about a couple months ago, we went to a big farm in upstate New York to see all the baby animals that had been born.

The baby cow was my favorite, little Daisy.

My dad actually helped a baby sheep back in the fenced area that had gotten out.

We let the farmer know, and he said, thank you, and went to go check on them.

I don’t think the farmer we met would have put them in a pasture with wolves prowling, let alone coyotes.

Like the farmer, Jesus cares for his sheep.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, thank you for loving us and caring for us.

Like we are your sheep, and you are our good shepherd, we love you, amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
