65. Thursday, July 11 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Thursday, July 11th, and we will be reading Matthew 10, 7-15.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 10, 7-15.

And preach as you go, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.

You receive without pay, give without pay.

Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts.

No bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff.

For the laborer deserves its food.

In whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart.

As you enter the house, salute it, and if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it.

But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

And if anyone who will not receive you, nor listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet, and leave the house or town.

Truly I say to you, it shall be more terrible on the Day of Judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than that town.

Before we go on a trip, my mom will let me know how many days we’re going to be gone, so I know how many days of clothes and other things to pack.

That way I have plenty of things to wear.

Jesus told the disciples to take nothing.

He wanted them to trust God in all their work.

Eek! When I think about this, I think this would be hard for me to do.

This just showed that God was doing work through the disciples.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for giving us what we need when we need it.

Help us to have faith that you will always take care of us and what we need.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
