Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Wednesday, July 10th and we will be reading Matthew 10, 1 through 7.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 10, 1 through 7.

And he called to him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity.

The names of the twelve apostles are these, 1st Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, James the son of Altheus and Tideus, Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and preach as you go, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Today’s scripture reminds me of the really fun memory I have.

Last Christmas, my dad surprised us with the Rockettes tickets during the Christmas season.

It was our Christmas gift for the year.

There’s a super fun scene the girls do when they’re all up like little tin soldiers, and they shoot a cannon off, and they lean way back into each other.

They all have been knocked down.

It takes a lot of flexibility to lean back, I’ll tell you that.

I tell you this because you can sneak a peek on YouTube if you want to visualize it, and B, I thought of Jesus as one of those soldiers, or even kind of like a domino too.

He’s the first in line spreading the news and passes the message on to the twelve disciples who passed it on and passed it on.

Now it’s our turn to pass it on.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for Jesus who giving the message of good news that we are supposed to spread around the world.

Help us to be your disciples.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
