Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Bricklin and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Monday, July 8th and we will be reading Matthew 9, 18-26.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 9, 18-26.
While he was thus speaking to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.
And Jesus rose and followed him with his disciples.
And behold, a woman who had suffered from hemorrhage for twelve years came behind him and touched the fringe of his garment.
And for she said to herself, If only I touch the garment, I shall be made well.
Jesus turned and seeing her, he said, Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well.
And instantly the woman was made well.
And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house, he saw the flute players and the crowd making a tumulet.
He said, Depart, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.
And they laughed at him.
But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
And the report of this went through all that district.
Have you ever played the game of trust fall, where you have to fall back into someone’s arm, hoping that they will catch you?
All I know is that you have to play with someone bigger, taller, and stronger, so you don’t knock them down.
I thought of this game because of the two stories of healing in today’s reading.
They both believe that Jesus was bigger and stronger than what was wrong in their lives.
I hope when I have a big problem in my life, I will remember to put all my trust in Jesus to be my help.
Like the lady touching his robe, or the father asking for him to raise his daughter from the dead.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, we thank you that you can help us no matter what problem we have.
Help us to have faith in you.
Amen.
In Jesus' name, amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
