59. Wednesday, July 3 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Yves Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Wednesday, July 3rd and we will be reading John 20, 24-29.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read John 20, 24-29.

Now Thomas and one of the twelve, called the twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

So the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord, but he said to them, Unless I see his hands, the print of the nails, and place my finger in the marks of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe.

Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them.

The doors were shut, and Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you.

And he said to Thomas, Put your finger here and see my hands, and put out your hand and place it in my side.

Do not be faithless, but believing.

Thomas answered him, My Lord and my God.

Jesus said to him, You have believed because you have seen me.

Blessed are those who have not seen me and yet believe.

One year I went to a vacation Bible school at church, and the teacher asked for volunteers to put a blindfold on and reach their hand into a box so that you couldn’t see what was inside.

I definitely refused to volunteer, because I really didn’t want to touch something disgusting.

I knew it was going to be something gross.

It ended up being Jell-O and fake spider legs and shaving cream, with other disgusting things.

Like Thomas in the reading, I was too scared to trust what I couldn’t see.

Luckily, today we have the Bible.

We know that we will see him one day, and that he cares for us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for Jesus and for the blessing of our faith.

Even though we can’t see with our eyes, help us to continue to trust in you and to keep following our ways.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
