Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Bucklin and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, July 2nd and we will be reading Matthew 8, 23-27.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 8, 23-27.
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him, and behold, there arose a great storm on sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves, but he was asleep.
And they went and woke him, saying, Save us, Lord, we are perishing.
And he said to them, Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?
And he rose and rebuked the winds and waves, and there was a great calm.
And the men were marveled, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and sea obey him?
Our dog doesn’t like loud bangs.
She doesn’t like thunder or fireworks or when the door slams.
She will hide in my mom and dad’s room or look for my mom to hide between her legs.
Oftentimes, she trembles and my mom will hug her to calm down, because she knows my mom will protect her, kind of like the disciples in the reading today.
They panicked when Jesus calmed the storm.
Jesus had power over the storm and waves.
The disciples then knew Jesus was bigger than their fear.
If we make our problems bigger than Jesus in our life, when will we have to make more problems?
No thanks.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, help me to remember to stop and trust in your power over my problems.
I know you have a perfect plan and power over everything.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow.
I’ll scatter more flowers.
See ya!
