Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn, and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Monday, July 1st, and we will be reading Matthew 8, 18-22.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 8, 18-22.
Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side.
And the scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.
And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.
Another of the disciples said to him, Lord, let me go and bury my father.
And Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
I love snacks, but usually I choose what I want to snack on based on what I feel at the moment.
I have favorites though, like apples and those little oranges, and cheese and sometimes popcorn.
Only if I’m in the moods.
Nerds, the candy, and of course, chocolate.
Choosing between an apple or an orange is a little hard because they’re both really good.
And between cheese and popcorn, it’s easy.
I would probably go for a string cheese if you are choosing popcorn.
But the thing that I had to choose between chocolate and nerds, that would be a really hard decision, because they’re both so tasty.
Some decisions are harder to make than others.
Jesus says in today’s reading that it’s not only easy to follow Him, and sometimes we have to make hard decisions to be a Christian.
Sometimes following Jesus is hard, but He is always with us and He loves us.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to always want to follow You, even if it’s not an easy thing to do at the moment.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
