56. Friday, June 28 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Friday, June 28th and we will be reading Matthew 8, 1-4.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 8, 1-4.

When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.

And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.

And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will be clean.

And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

And Jesus said to him, See that you say nothing to anyone, but go show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded for proof to the people.

Back in Jesus' time, when a person had leprosy, they were banned from town.

They had to live on their own because their disease was highly contagious.

So instead of people taking care of you, everyone just ignored you.

The leper knew that Jesus could heal him, so he took a chance by asking him for help.

Jesus didn’t run away from him.

He looked right at the guy and said, I’ll heal you.

And guess what?

The leper was healed instantly.

You know how we learn we are supposed to be more like Jesus?

Well, my mom and sometimes my dad are some like Jesus.

When I am sick with the flu or my brother gets a cold, it doesn’t matter to her.

She still gets snuggled up with us, helps us feel better, and makes us soup or things that will make us feel better.

Jesus cares about everyone, even the people who felt left out or unimportant.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, we know you healed the leper because you care for everyone.

Help us to do the same to those even if we feel left out.

Thank you.

In Jesus' name.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week.

Scattering more flowers.

See ya!
