50. Thursday, June 20 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Thursday, June 20th and we will be reading Matthew 6, 7-15.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now, let’s read Matthew 6, 7-15.

And in praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Do not like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Pray like this.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

My mom is pretty simple when it comes to food.

One of her favorite things to eat is a sandwich.

We had this sandwich shop where we used to live and she loved to go to.

Today’s reading made me think of my mom waiting in line telling the workers all the things she wanted on her sandwich.

There are lots of things you can say or put in your prayers, like my mom’s sandwich being loaded up.

Did you know God loves when we talk to Him?

And prayer is when we can talk to Him about anything.

Sometimes I don’t always know what I want to say to God, and even though there is no wrong way to pray to Him, Jesus showed us today’s reading an example of what to say.

As long as we are speaking really what is from our hearts, we can pray to God and He will always be there to help us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thanks for the example that Jesus gave to us that we would know how to pray.

Help us to understand that prayer is talking to you.

Thanking you for all that you do for us, asking you to lead us, help us not to be afraid of telling you what is on our mind.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
