43. Tuesday, June 11 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Tuesday, June 11th, and we will be reading Matthew 10, 7 through 13.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 10, 7 through 13.

And preach as ye go, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.

You received without pay, give without pay.

Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff.

For the laborer deserves his food, and whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart.

As you enter the house, salute it, and the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it.

But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Do you have a favorite superhero?

Mine is Batgirl.

She’s so cool because she’s a regular girl, and then when the city is in trouble, she puts on all her gadgets, like her belt filled with tools and cape, and goes to save the city.

I like that she’s kinda normal, but when she uses her smarts and courage to help the city.

The original twelve disciples were just like regular people that Jesus chose to share in his work.

They didn’t have superpowers.

It was the power of Jesus that made them special.

Jesus gave them directions that sound a little like superpowers.

Can you imagine how cool it would be to heal the sick people like Jesus did, make bad spirits go away, or even raise the dead people back alive?

Jesus was letting them borrow his power to help people believe.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for giving us superpowers to serve others.

Even though I might not be able to heal a leper or raise someone from the dead, I can still tell others about you in special ways.

In Jesus' name, amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
