Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn, and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Friday, June 7th, and we will be reading John 19, 31-37.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one! Now, let’s read John 19, 31-37.
Since it was the day of preparation in order to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath, for the Sabbath was a high day, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him.
But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, and did not break his legs.
But when the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, they knew that once there came out blood and water.
He who saw it had borne witness.
His testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth, that you may also believe.
For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled.
No bone of him shall be broken.
And again, another scripture says, they shall look at him who has been pierced.
Have you ever eaten Sour Patch Kids candy?
My favorite is green.
Ooh, I’m drooling while I think about the taste.
Anyway, you know how it’s super sour on the outside, and once you get through all that gritty sugary stuff off, it’s sweet on the inside?
That’s kind of how the story of Jesus' dying is.
It can be kind of sad if we don’t know how it really ends.
He rises from the dead.
Hallelujah! Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, thank you for dying for our sins.
You gave your life so I might live eternally.
Thank you.
In Jesus' name, amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
