Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklynn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Friday, May 31st, and we will be reading Luke 1, 39-56.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 1, 39-56.
In those days Mary arose and went to a haste in the hill country to a city of Judea.
And she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leapt in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
And she claimed in a loud cry, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy.
And blessed is he who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken from her for the Lord.
Then Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For he has regarded the lowest state for his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For he who is mighty has done great things in his holy name, and his mercy is for those who fear him in the generation for generation.
He has shown the strength with his arm, and he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their fins, and has exalted the low in decree.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty and away.
He has helped the servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his prosperity forever.
And Mary remained with her for three months, and returned to her home.
Can you spell that?
Okay, probably not.
So close your eyes and imagine gingerbread cookies, Christmas trees, peppermint and chocolate.
Oh boy.
The scripture reminds me of Christmas.
I can’t wait for Christmas.
It’s my favorite holiday.
So think of the excitement for Christmas, even if it’s still months away.
When Mary came to see her cousin Elizabeth, she felt the baby jump for joy.
He wasn’t even born yet, and he was leaping because he recognized that Jesus was close by.
So there was a lot of happy news and joyful feelings.
John leapt.
Elizabeth shouted.
Mary sang.
And there was, gave praise to God.
There was lots of ways to praise God.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for your many blessings.
Please help us to praise you for all you do.
Thank you for your love.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
