Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklynn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Thursday, May 30th, and we will be reading Mark 10, 46-52.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Mark 10, 46-52.
And they came to Jericho, and as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples, a great multitude, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
And he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.
And Jesus stopped and said, Call him.
And they called the blind man, saying to him, Take heart, rise, he is calling you.
And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.
And Jesus said to him, What do you want me to do for you?
And the blind man said to him, Master, let me receive sight.
And Jesus said to him, Go your way, your faith has made you well.
And immediately he received his sight and followed him and the way.
One time when we were on vacation, we played this game of pretending to be blind, so we kept our eyes closed, and then we had to lead each other around the leader, had to explain everything to the person pretending to be blind.
When it was my mom’s turn to be blind, my brother was the leader, and he forgot to tell her that there was a tree root to step over, and she ended up tripping and hurting the palm of her hand.
Bartimaeus believed that Jesus was someone special who might be able to help him.
He boldly asked for his sight.
Jesus recognized the trust and faith of this man and immediately healed him.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for Jesus who helps us see that we are important to you.
And thank you that in heaven we will actually get to see you face to face.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen! Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
