Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Thursday, May 23rd, and we will be reading Mark 9, 41-50.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now, let’s read Mark 9, 41-50.
For truly I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose his reward.
Whoever causes one of these little ones to believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great milestone were hung around his neck and were thrown into the sea.
And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter life unmaned for the two hands to go to hell, to the unbearable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than two eyes to be thrown into hell, where their worm does not lie and the fire is not quenched.
For everyone who will be salted with fire.
Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you season it?
Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with one another.
You know what salt, of course, right?
It is used to make food taste better.
You can imagine eating french fries or cheeseburger without seasoning.
Jesus knew the importance of salt, so he used it as an example of how we should live.
He calls us the salt of the world to flavor the worth with the love of Jesus.
Think of you sprinkling salt to make a world a better place.
Wowee! Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, help us to flavor the world with love and give us wisdom to make the world a better place.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
