Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn, and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Tuesday, May 21st, and we will be reading Mark 9, 30-37.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Mark 9, 30-37.
They went on from there, and passed through Galilee.
And he would not have anyone know it, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him.
And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.
But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.
And they came to Capernaum, and he was in the house, and he asked them, What were you discussing on the way?
But they were silent, for on the way there they had discussed with one another who was the greatest.
And he sat down and called the twelve, and said to them, If anyone would be first, he must be last of all, and the servant of all.
And he took the child and put him on the midst of them.
And taking his arms, he said to them, Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives not me, but him who sent me.
You have probably heard of the saying, Goat.
It means greatest of all time, not the barn animal.
Today we read about how the disciples are arguing who was the goat, or who was the best among them.
But Jesus says, If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be last.
We are supposed to help and serve one another.
Maybe we can’t slam dunk a basketball yet, or paint a perfect masterpiece yet, but we are great in God’s eyes when we follow him.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, You are truly the greatest.
Help us to think less of ourselves and more of You, and show us how to serve one another.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering my flowers.
See ya!
