Today is Thursday, May 16th, and we will be reading John 17, 20-26.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now, let’s read John 17, 20-26.
I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may believe in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one in them, and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me may be with me, where I am, to behold my glory, which you have given me for the love, for you become the foundation of the world.
O righteous Father, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these know that you have sent me.
I made known to your name, and I will make it known that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
I love to bake.
I have been baking for a while because my grandma Lily likes to.
So when we visit, or she visits us, we always bake something together.
Pretend we are going to make a chocolate cake right now, together.
I mean, I know we can’t do it over air, but to begin, we could need a recipe and gather the ingredients together.
Do you know what ingredients we would put into the bowl to make a chocolate cake?
Flour, cocoa powder, and sugar, baking powder, and vanilla.
We would also need milk, oil, and eggs.
Once the ingredients are blended together and baked, we have a cake.
We no longer have individual ingredients yet.
We just have cake.
Just like we once have a separate ingredient, we then blended them to make a cake.
Before Jesus left to go to heaven, he prayed and asked God to give people the love that God had given him, so that we could all be blended together.
Jesus prayed that they may be one, even as we are one in them, as you are in me, and they may become perfectly one.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear Jesus, help us to be blended together as one, topped off with your love.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow.
I’m scattering more flowers.
See ya!
