Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn, and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Monday, May 13th, and we will be reading John 16, 29-33.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read John 16, 29-33.
His disciples said, Ah, now you are speaking plainly, not in any figure.
Now we know that you know all things, and need none but to question you.
By this we believe that you came from God.
Jesus answered them, Do you now believe the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, every man to his home, and will leave me alone.
Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace, in the world you have tribulation.
But be of God’s cheer, I have overcome the world.
A couple of weeks ago, my dad showed me a documentary of how trapeze artists train to do their shows.
They perform it.
When they swing around and fly through the air, or bounce on a wire, there’s a big, huge safety net under them.
If that were to fall, which most times they don’t, because they’ve practiced their sport a million times, they won’t fall to their death or get hurt too badly.
When I read this bit of scripture, it made me think of those safety nets.
In a way, Jesus is like a big safety net for us to fall into.
He says, have peace in me, take courage, I have conquered the world.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, thank you for taking the time to die on the cross for my sins, and saving me, and making it easy to fall into your safety net of grace.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
