Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Friday, May 10th, and we will be reading John 16, 20-23.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read John 16, 20-23.
Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice.
You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.
When a woman is in labor, she has pain because her hour has come, but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for the joy that a child is born into the world.
So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
In that day, I will ask nothing of me.
Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, He will give it to you in My name.
My mom’s friend is having a baby in August.
I’m super excited to meet the baby and hold her.
She’s going to be so cute.
If I’m this excited, I know the new parents are so excited to have the new baby.
The scripture says a mother’s pain turns into joy, and then compares that to pain the disciples will have when Jesus ascends into heaven, but we will see Him again.
We can have joy because God is always there for us.
If it’s in something new and exciting, like a new baby, like my mom’s friend, or an A on our homework, or even something as simple as a fun weekend, God always gives us something to have joy about.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Jesus, grant us the grace to always have you present in our hearts and minds, so that we have never-ending joy.
Thank you for the promise that no one can take that joy away.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
