20. Thursday, May 9 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklynn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Thursday, May 9th, and we will be reading John 16, 16-20.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read John 16, 16-20.

A little while and you will see me no more again.

A little while and you will see me.

Some of his disciples said to one another, what is this that he says to us?

A little while and you will not see me, and again, a little while, you will see me.

And because I go to the Father, they said, what does this mean by a little while?

We do not know what he means.

Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, is this what you are asking yourselves?

What I meant by saying, a little while and you will not see me, and again, a little while, you will see me?

Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, for the world will rejoice, and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.

Sometimes when my parents say, wait, or just a minute, or hang on, I don’t want to.

It’s pretty hard to wait, especially if it’s something fun or exciting that I’m waiting for.

A little while is said four times in this reading.

Waiting for a little while isn’t always easy, but when we know that we get to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus, waiting is worth it, don’t you think?

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear Jesus, help us to want to spend time with you, daily moments with you, to strengthen our faith in you, so it’s easier to be patient as we wait for a little while.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
