18. Tuesday, May 7 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Tuesday, May 7th and we will be reading John 16, 5-11.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read John 16, 5-11.

But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you ask me, where are you going?

But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth.

It is to your advantage that I go away.

For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you.

But if I go, I will send him to you.

And when he comes, he will convince the world of sin and righteousness and of judgment.

Of sin, because they do not believe in me.

Of righteousness, because I go to the Father and you will see me no more.

Of judgment, because the ruler of the world is judged.

Don’t you think it would be cool if after Jesus rose from the dead, he chose to stick around?

We could just be hanging out all those burning questions we think of.

We could be like, hey Jesus, what about this?

The disciples want the same thing.

They didn’t want him to leave.

But Jesus says in today’s scripture, if he does not go, the Holy Spirit will not come to us.

How lucky are we that we have the Holy Spirit, who shares his gifts of power and wisdom.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Jesus praise you, and thank you for this great gift, that you die for us and rise again, and the Holy Spirit lives in us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow.

Scatter more flowers.

See ya! See ya!
